What is the Accounting Technician Apprenticeship?

This is a modern and practical route to a career in accountancy where employers take on students on a two-year, work-based learning programme.

We source individuals interested in a career in accountancy, and you select the candidates who best fit your employment requirements.

The Accounting Technician Apprenticeship matches the Accountancy & Finance recruitment needs of employers in industry, practice and the public sector.

Participating colleges are based in the Greater Dublin Area, Wicklow/Kildare/Meath, Cork/Waterford and Monaghan/Cavan.

How does it work?

* For Leaving Certificate students 2017, this is 310 CAO points and at least an O5 grade in English and Maths or Accountancy. For those who sat the Leaving Cert in the past five years, this is 300 CAO points and a D3 in Ordinary Level English and Maths of Accountants. Mature learners (23 years and above) are also eligible to apply. Previous qualification holders (FETAC Level 5 or above in a non-accounting discipline) are also eligible to apply. Individual employers have the discretion to enhance the entrance criteria beyond the minimum academic standards.
** Employers are free to commence the contract before the programme start date, however the contract must run for the duration of the programme.
